If you found her broken and abandoned

by the side of the road,

would you be willing to help?

We did and now you can too!

It costs nothing and will only take a minute ...

Vote for JoJo as the 2010 Rescue Dog

at ProPlan's Rally to Rescue

From the Heart is honored to have one of its rescue dogs, JoJo, as one of ten national finalists in Purina Pro Plan Rally to Rescue's Doing More for Pets Contest.  This contest is one of many ways that Rally to Rescue promotes rescue and rescue events.

Your vote also would help shine a light into the dark plight of a misunderstood and frequently abused breed of dog.  While the $5,000 (in free food) would surely help our rescue, more so, having JoJo introduced to the nation as the 2010 Rescue Dog would show what great dogs pitbulls can be, if only given love and a chance.

Here is her winning story ... take a moment to read it and then please vote for JoJo  Her video story is on the website and can also be found here

JoJo's Journey

JoJo's journey began, and nearly ended, as she lay by the side of the road hoping someone would stop to help her… but she was a feared, hated and misunderstood breed, so the hours and cars drifted by with no help. Finally, someone stopped and took her to a shelter in rural Texas.

An examination revealed a severely broken leg in need of specialized surgical repair. The shelter didn't have the funds and their veterinarian didn't have the necessary skill to make the repair, but they wanted to give JoJo every chance possible. JoJo's journey resumed when an orthopedic vet 225 miles away in El Paso, Texas agreed to do the surgery, and From the Heart agreed to step in as her rescue for foster and rehabilitative care.

JoJo's journey continued when her foster mom, an occupational therapist, began to take JoJo to work – so JoJo could inspire humans recovering from orthopedic injuries. JoJo, with a shaved hind leg, large rows of staples on her incisions and an external fixator sticking out of the top of her hip, went into service as a therapy dog to damaged humans, encouraging them to strive towards health.

JoJo now has her fixator removed and is progressing wonderfully with her own therapy. She continues to help the patients at the orthopedic hospital, demonstrating the loyalty and intelligence of her breed. But even more, she enjoys inspiring and giving love to people who are in pain, because she understands them...

Her journey of love will continue for her lifetime.
